Darren E. Kiel is the founder and owner of Solarcore, Inc. He has had significant experience as a senior counselor and technical expert in a wide variety of high security computer network environments. Mr. Kiel is serving as chief technical advisor within the U.S. Treasury's Identity Management Program. In this capacity, he is providing critical expertise to ensure effective use of Treasury's enterprise security resources in support of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive #12 (HSPD-12) from a technological, policy and programmatic perspective. In the past, he has been heavily involved in various information assurance efforts for Treasury, and has provided them with security strategies for the Treasury Communication System, the largest civilian government network in existence today. Mr. Kiel has served as team lead and senior technical advisor on the FBI's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) project, one of the most significant and important information security initiatives in FBI history. Through his work with the Department of Defense (DOD), Mr. Kiel has pioneered new methods for controlling access to network resources using hardware token X.509 certificates and LDAP directory servers. He has provided the DOD with extensive strategic and tactical expertise in securing multiple networks in different classification domains. Mr. Kiel was a guest speaker at various FBI conferences and the DOD's Beta Test Working Group forum for advanced security topics. He has taught courses in Unix security for the Army 902nd at Ft. Meade, and has designed and taught security courses for the Air Force Information Warfare Center in San Antonio, TX. He holds a Master's Degree in Telecommunications, is an Alpha Iota Mu honors society member, and is CISSP, SCSA and CCNA certified.   |
